This music is extremely difficult to play. I am an advanced pianist and I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around some of these songs. Just so you know, the melody is not replicated in the right hand.What I love about this book is that it is very true to the OBC recording. Every line of dialogue on the CD is in here, along with every singer's part. Nothing has been dumbed down, this is the real deal. Don't expect to be able to sit down and play through the book--it will take some serious work.
Piano accompaniment is true to score. Sounds great! Probably best for an advanced player...playing style reminds me of a mix between Brian Yorker/Tom Kitt and Jason Robert Brown.
An excellent score, now available to the public in Vocal selection form. Young tenors all over the country will be working up to those high B flats in "Waving Through A Window" for the next several years! I am thrilled that this music was so faithfully transcribed for voice and piano - kudos to Pasek and Paul and the music editors for putting this out there.
If you intend read this to play music... don't bother, Kindle formatting makes the score microscopie with NO way to enlarge. !!! buy the hard copy instead..
This book includes almost all of the songs in the musical and the piano reduction is very true to the original score. I love singing and playing these pieces. I will say that the piano parts are fairly advanced to play, but not impossible.
For the first time in years we have found a new composer/lyricist duo to take us into the future along with Lin Manuel Miranda. Each has their own distinctive style and both are magnificent.
This piano music book is AWESOME! I love having the music written as what is played in the background of the song - that it doesn't squeeze the melody line into the music. It's challenging to play but such a fun challenge! Love this music and the arranging Alex Lacamoire and Justin Paul did on these.
It's a great book, with a lot of the songs included. My daughter is using it for a performance, and she loves it!
