I like to see how famous people live and what motivates their decorating style other than a professional they have hired to create their flawless environments. This book was interesting to me because it featured some interesting personalities that I have admired for different reasons throughout the years. I particularly enjoyed some of their comments about being a public figure, both the ups and the downs. It makes me appreciate my privacy. I can walk the street and shop in peace. Many of them cannot. Their interior were flawless and the photography was awesome. Great Job and I look forward to the author next project.

I really enjoyed this book considering it was a gamble with no "look inside" option. Lots of pictures with little copy, which I like. More a social pages excerpt and series of insights into T and C world, just taken from the pages of the mag. Nothing new but good in one book.

I was really looking forward to receiving this book because I love the magazine so much. This was such a disappointment! The entire book is full of old, outdated, grainy photos and pages of rambling text. Instead of enjoying the book and being inspired by the interior and architectural design, I couldn't flip through it fast enough. Save your money.

This is a beautifully illustrated book of 100 varieties of apples. There is historical information and descriptions. They are sometimes repetitive and it is difficult to determine possible individual differences. I have found at least two varieties in the grocery store that are not mentioned in the book at all.

This book is a nice resource for antique apple descriptions, but it doesn't describe particularly many varieties, and the author's lack of expertise in the area shows.The author is an artist and writer. I have a few other apple-related books I have been reading that were written by professional apple people, and this book is a red delicious compared to the complex, nuanced information found in the other books. The particular thing I find bothersome is the lack of depth of the flavor descriptions. The author is not an expert in apple tasting and its shows. Another way it shows is the varieties selected: too many of them are mcintosh/golden-red-delicious/jonathan hybrids. Also given the huge history behind apples, how can one write a book called "Apples" with no history in it?The book itself is unusually beautiful and the authors' pictures of the apples are also quite beautiful. So it would be a wonderful light little gift book.If you want a "real" apple book get "The Book of Apples" by Morgan and Richards, which has a huge amount of history and thousands of variety descriptions.

When I decided to plant some apple trees, I wanted apples I couldn't buy at the local grocery store. Information on antique varieties was hard to find, but this little book was a treasure trove. I kept it beside me as I went through my catalogs, comparing those descriptions to Yepsen's text and beautiful illustrations of both antiques and some modern varieties. Very useful, and a pleasure for the eyes as well. The only improvement I could ask for is that it would cover more apples. Perhaps another volume?

This little jewel of a book is the best reference to the unusual "antique" apple varieties that are enjoying a new popularity. Stunning watercolors, history of varieties, and useful descriptions fill the book. Before we buy a tree, we consult "the book" to learn more about each cultivar.We wish that the author would do an Apples 2 - The Missed Varieties book!

This is a great little quick reference guide and gives you a nice overall visual of each apple and tells you a little about it. Nice go to guide with some great information.

My daughter LOVES this book, its so cute and has a simple yet engaging story line. Definitely a keeper!

A perfect mermaid story for kids from probably 3 to 8, with very sweet illustrations and a spunky main character. There's a "merboy," too, which I appreciated!

Such a cute book. My 6 year old niece loves it.

Long overdue is Part-time Mermaid, not only because it follows Part-time Princess with an equally wonderful secret life - which it does. But most amazing to me is the little girl on land who helps the mermaid - and who happens to use a wheelchair. So very very needed in children's books are characters with disabilities. What a delight to read this book.

This book is so dear to us because our daughter loves mermaids and is in a wheelchair!

I am a full-time fan of Deborah Underwood's books!

This is a book filled with the joy of imagination, invention and kindness. I love how the part-time mermaid makes friends with a whale who then helps save a sinking ship, the illustrations of all the sea animals, and can imagine how much fun children will have learning all their names. I especially love how the mermaid accepts her little brother following her everywhere, I love the hide and seek page, and I love that a girl in a wheelchair is helpful, and there is a positive spin on the chair for both the girl and the mermaid. This is a book that will be a favorite, I'm sure, for the two little girls who are receiving it. Absolutely love it!

Just got this book, and I am pleased with the wide variety of recipes - looking forward to trying many of them. BUT I am VERY disappointed that the recipes do not give a breakdown of the DASH servings per recipe. There is an introductory chapter that says you need 6 - 8 daily servings of whole grains/day - but does not mention that one serving is about 1/3 cup (I believe). The recipe for, say, Fruit Pizza, says that it makes 12 servings total - but how many of the DASH whole grain servings per serving is that? how many fruit DASH servings (4 - 5 daily servings) is one serving of the pizza? There is a recipe for granola that says it makes 10 cups, and each serving of granola is 266 calories, 10 g fat, etc. - but NOWHERE does it say how big one serving is. (The index is not good either - if you look up granola under "G", it's not there - you have to remember that it is in the "Breakfast" chapter - look up the index category "Breakfast" - and there you find it. So frustrating.) So I don't know if a serving is 1 cup or 1/2 cup or 1/4 cup - BIG difference!I hope the authors revise their recipes to include what DASH servings each recipe contains, and clarify how much ALL their recipes are per serving.

Did not find this book as resourceful as this book would indicate. The recipes are ok , but not the greatest. Your best bet is doing the research yourself , and limit your salt intake which is the basics for the dash diet . I regret making this purchase .

Many wonderful recipes. Loved the section on making salad dressings, sauces and seasonings. I wish there would have been more Main Dish recipes.

First think, Coerver has never released a bad DVD/VHS/ or book! That being said, you have to be a supporter of the Dutch system and like a lot of offense in your teams game planning. If you play the typical 4-4-2, you will not be impressed. If you want to expand your style, check out this and any Coerver publication.

Excellent pictures and explanations on basics for young soccer players.Very good for coaches to learn to teach the fundamentals of kicking, passing, ball control, etc.

This book is brilliant & wonderful for anyone coaching developing players. Having read lots of coaching materials, Coerver (& the KNVB) was way ahead his time. Everyone is advocating his ideas today, but his writing is still as concise & purposeful as anything I've read. Coerver insists that your primary focus when coaching young players should be to develop their individual technical abilities, & he shows you how to do it in this book. (I think this philosophy also applies to older, lower-level teams - like what I coach) His constant insistence on the development of individual skill, & valuing it over team success, gives direction to my training sessions & game-day decisions/evaluations. He recommends keeping a long-term perspective on individual development & always encourage creativity & risk-taking. He defines the young player coach's role as developing players, not winning games. Your players will make mistakes along the way, & you'll cringe when a defender tries to beat a forward with a double-scissors in your own box & gives up a goal, but it will pay off in the long run. This thinking will change the way you handle your players, it will change the way they approach the game, & they will love you for it! I took over a U-14 team this year that lacked many basic skills, all they did was kick & chase. It was painful at times, & they're by no means stars now, but we changed our daily mentality in training (ex: no criticizing unsuccessful attempts at creativity) & 9 months later every one of them feels comfortable using moves in games & keeping possession. It's amazing to see, & they are having an absolute blast. This book provides the framework, & then some nuts & bolts as well.My favorite parts of the book are the short intros to each section where Coerver outlines his philosophy. Aside from those, the book is very, very heavy on drills. These are a fantastic resource, but is where the book's flaw comes - the descriptions of the drills are very convoluted & the picture sequences are often in a confusing order. Having played a lot of soccer, I can usually figure it out, but inexperienced coaches will be pained. The Coerver videos may be necessary. This is a major flaw, & the reason I don't give the book 5 stars, but not a deal-breaker for me.This book is gold & will stay on my shelf until it falls apart, & then I'll buy a new one. To be honest, when I watch other coaches in my club run a practice session, I think of this book every time & just want to walk up & give them a copy. By the way, this book would be a great companion the USSF E License course. It will serve coaches much better after they leave the class than the USSF book ("How to Play the Game", which is good in its own right) - it has lots more useful stuff for actually planning their practices.

The video is excellent for teaching ball feeling, fast footwork and finally dribbling moves. This will enable the coach to have players who are comfortable on the ball and can play possession soccer. Get the video (5 stars) as the book does not explain or show (despite copious use of color pictures) clearly how to do most of the excercises.

Mr. Coerver may be the best soccer coach in the world. He certainly thinks he is. There is no discernable humility in anything he says.I found that the text had very little connection to the pictures. In most cases, if I wanted to understand what was being discussed, I could look at the pictures or the text, but not both.I rented the video, and it was better than the book, but trying to relate the video items to the book was impossible. It reminded me of the dubbing in "What's up, Tiger Lilly?" in which the dialog continued after the scene changed.

This book is very useful in educating young soccer players. It covers all the basic techniques young players need to develop in order to play the game at a high level. The pictures in the book are very well suited for fine-tuning your technique. If you are not familiar with the technical aspects of soccer the pictures may be a bit hard to interpret. But for coaches already involved in youth training this is a guide which you should have.Major weakness of this book is that it focusses on only one aspect of soccer: technique. Don't expect to find much useful information about tactics (despite of the subtitle of the book). Still it is a 'must have' for youth coaches working with young players.

Well, I thought this should be a good book. It is not. All pictures that look like isolated freeze frames from a movie with zero intelligible explanation. For example, the "double scissors" is illustrated by about 30 pictures of a kid standing around a ball. A thumbnail text accompanies this, explaining nothing. Too bad, but this is a book that is simply incomprehensible. Well intentioned though. Much better books on coaching fundamentals are out there.

This book helped me improve from a kick & run player to a more sophisticated ball player. Unfortunately, I got this a bit late, when I was 30 years old. Now I have mastered the drills and practice them almost daily. When my fitness is OK I can execute these drills in a game situation. I a getting my son to learn these skills, hopefully he will be a better player then me.
