I have every cookbook written by John Ash, and this matches them for great information. I find his recipes thoughtfully conceived , practical and generally delicious.

I clearly enjoy this cookbook. It is well written and the recipes are easy to follow. I would recommend the book to anyone who enjoys cooking poultry

It is a very good cook book with lots of different ways to fix chicken and accompany dishes.

This is the 3rd John Ash's cookbook that I have purchased. I really love the first two. This one is pretty good but not as good as the other two. Several of the recipes are redundant to ones I already have (not only in his other cookbooks, but in others I have). I also do not know why there is a section on eggs.

Like, I SO do NOT need anymore cookbooks: I have a huge library including some noteworthy ones dedicated to chicken or poultry. But, this caught my eye at my Costco, and there was just SO much good, great, material in it, I took it home "just to look at it"...and kept it! The book is beautifully produced, with a generous amount of excellent photography....not of ALL recipes, but many. The author/s really know their material and really know how to assemble a usable cookbook.There are a wide array of truly interesting recipes:classics and international, with nice inclusion of Asian, italian, Greek, French, and other recipes, well done. Chef John Ash is able to somehow retain authenticity while making the recipes accessible and, easy...at least in my opinion. Some recipes have ingredients some folks may find hard to get, depending on where they live and such (not a problem here in N. Cali, but I see this issue come up alot in reviews), but there is such variety that folks should find plenty to work with: it may help if your local grocery stocks good basic asian condiments like fish sauce and such. The recipes cover chicken, turkey, and also some for quail, and other game birds; the majority are chicken.Although I have many of the recipes in other books, I find the versions in this book are fresh, new, insightful, and creative . The "Chicken Avgolemono with root vegetables" is a great version of the classic Greek egg/lemon soup. The Asian rotisserie chicken salad is super easy and delish; love the lemongrass chicken recipe, and also many of the salads are just awesome. There is also posole bianco... (Mexican hominy soup usually made with pork, appears here in a wonderful chicken version)... easy to do if you can get a can of hominy! Also, very cool chicken with red wine and orchiette/little ears pasta (you can use other shapes)....totally excellent. The pesto-stuffed turkey breast offers up a fantastic pistachio pesto recipe, but he notes that regular pesto can work fine. Turkey tetrazinni, turkey piccatta, turkey picadillo tacos, Italian Wedding Soup: all these and MUCH more made this cookbook a must have for my household. (Note: we do not eat beef or pork, so relish great recipes for birds/game). Chef John Ash also offers up alot of useful tips as "sidebars" throughout, like a GREAT. Info section on egg knowledge, how to make your own creme fraiche, and so much more.I highly recommend this book....fun, interesting, accessible, awesome recipes. Well done!

While this is obviously not a happy topic, this book explores it in a responsible and appropriate manner.Culled from the real-life experiences of poet Ann Turner, "Learning to Swim" tells the story of a young girl on a family vacation who is molested by an older boy. Each page has a separate poem that explores her feelings at a particular time. The actual events are not related. The only questionable language is a mention to "private parts". This is what makes the poetry all that much powerful. The images created are wonderful and the reader is able to get a glimpse into the mind that this child must have felt.The reader will feel the same emotions as the girl and it sends a powerful message about how awful the exploitation of children is. The reading ability is definitely Young Adult and Turner is able to relate this difficult subject matter to a level that is appropriate for this age group - boys and girls alike.Why 4 stars?: Really my only objection is that she did not write more. While we see the events from the child's mind, I would have appreciated even more depth into her emotions, as well as to the other people involved - her parents, brothers, and even the perpetrator. However, I did enjoy the poems, and could not put it down - I read it the first time in a single sitting, and then had to go back and read them again so the full levity could hit me. Turner does a masterful job of exploring this tragic subject in a manner that is appropriate for adolescents.

This short, easy-to-read-but-emotionally-gripping, collection of free-verse poetry is to be recommended to all ages, and both genders, of readers.The imagery of the dusty summer house and the promise of learning to swim, the hands and smells of loving family, and the pedophilic neighbor boy, the hiding beneath the blueberry bush, the secret forced, and then exposed, has a therapeutic quality. But as an adult male who has never experienced the horror exposed in this verse, it is a revealing, and disconcerting, journey into the thoughts and emotions of the little girl who endured it.Earlier this week a female student asked me for any books in our high school library on pedophilia. Those that I placed in her hands were so statistical and objective compared to this one. Next time, I'll be sure to recommend "Learning to Swim." It presents the victim's perspective with heart.

The plot, with its ups and downs, it was kept me engaged with this book. The urge to know how the girl got through this situation and survived is what motivated me to finish this book. The language itself was so profound; I wanted more of these words that were filled with emotion. There is a very definite beginning, middle and end, all in which the little girls have specific emotions.Also, the character herself can be related to by many people. She is just an ordinary girl with memories of picking blueberries with her mother and spending time in the water with her father. However, one event, caused by a little boy, changed her whole perception. She wanted to live in a fairy tale word, not just because she thinks the fairies are pretty, but because that world seems like a sanctuary; a place where she would be safe from evil hands and wrong touches.This book, though short in length, had an immense effect on me as a reader. It conveyed pure emotion and the hurt of the writer can be pulled from this text. The fact that this is a true story makes the circumstances even more haunting and tragic. It is almost incomprehensible to think there are evils of this sort in the effecting children so young they can't swim without the help of a pink floating tube. It is very distressing to think that children that young can have memories that they try very hard to forget.

Using the metaphor of learning to swim, to finding the power to speak, this book kept me reading because of the fact that it is a factual story. Along with the intriguing way this book is written in a poem form, it is a short and easy book to read. For the readers that don¡¯t understand the connection between what the author refers to simultaneously as she tells her story of the fear that she endured in her childhood life, this reading can be difficult. The very compelling tone of the authors voice is what held my attention throughout the book. Even though I experienced no such incident, I felt a strong interaction with the author, sensing the person behind the words. This writing is completely personal, honest, and it makes you think and react to the author¡¯s point of view. The metaphoric method of this truthful book¡¯s telling, and its literary style is what kept me engaged to this very courageous, moving and powerful book. This poem is a testimony to the healing power of words. It is a collection of words, rhythm, and images that has been transformed to present something painful and bitter. The alluring words and its voice is the illumination of this book, and also another aspect of this book that kept me reading.

I have given this book so far to three friends as gifts and they loved it. I myself think it's great also, my only complaint is the cover. I like to keep it out as a coffee table book and why a girl with a belly button ring and a bikini had to be on the cover doesn't make for a very good table book. If you are a Jersey Girl this book has it all!! Great pictures of the Shore, it brought back so many memories of great times gone by. I live in Massachusetts and baby, the Cape is a sad, sad place compared to the Shore. Jersey Girls have all over the Cape Girls!! You have to put up with an author's constant bragging and some misinformation. Mr. Wolper thinks very highly of himself--virtually everything he did he claims was the "first" or "part of television history," and early on he says his company was "one of the greatest incubators of talent in the history of the TV industry." Yet his boasting isn't supported by the facts and a number of details in the book are just plain wrong.It's the story of an under-educated salesman with no background in the TV business who stumbled into making documentaries, which eventually led to producing some other successful series, events and mini-series. He states the facts in a somewhat dull manner and reveals little about the "whys" behind his decisions. He speeds through significant events (like his marriages and divorces) and gives too much detail on some insignificant things (like a show called "Divorce Hearing"). The book ends up being very much like his productions--filled with facts and minor details but missing an emotional connection to the audience.The book, like his films, recreates history in a way that isn't quite accurate. He says one of his movies was the first to use American Indians to play native American roles, that he was the first to do "historical drama" (tell that to Cecil B. DeMille!) and that he was the first to put nature documentaries on prime time TV (about 20 years after Walt Disney actually did it!). He even at one point says, "I would pioneer a new television format, the miniseries" but then later recants with, "I may not actually be the father of the miniseries, but I can certainly claim to be a close relative." Either you did or you didn't--and, as in most of the things he says, he didn't.You feel like he wants to leave this book as a rewrite of history so that future generations will see him as much more important than he really was. No doubt his company did some major work (Roots, Thorn Birds, Willie Wonka), but even those, in retrospect, look somewhat cheesy. There's no sense in this book that he understands that he wasn't the greatest producer in the history of the medium.There are a couple interesting details. Get Christie Love was supposed to star Cicely Tyson but she quit two days before it started shooting. Quaker Oats financed Willie Wonka in order to introduce a new candy bar (which is why the movie title was changed from the book). And John Travolta insisted on staying on Welcome Back Kotter after his movie success, but he recorded all of his scenes over a two-month period.At one point in the book the author actually admits that he staged some scenes of his "news" documentaries, and then heckles those who uphold journalistic standards which say you should never stage anything for a news piece! He isn't a true documentarian--he's just a showman trying to make a buck. He tries to make his "documentaries" news (by which there are professional standards that he didn't seem to follow) but they are really entertainment (which allowed him to gain from the creative history of others). Bottom line he was a salesman who really didn't know much about the business other than how to scramble to do anything to make a sale.After awhile his self-praise gets so old. On just about every page there's another misleading claim or boast. He says he started the reality TV format (uh...no he didn't), he says at one point that he "changed history," a plane crash that killed his crew members was "the most devastating accident in the history of the entertainment industry, and he claimed he was "one of the top ten men who understood the women's movement."I recommend the reader skim through the first hundred pages to get to some of the interesting, more modern, TV stories. The dry storytelling style and constant bragging otherwise makes for a long read.

Working through all the cd's of the audiobook was a marathon, but surprisingly addicting. I came away most impressed with David Wolper's determination. He has the courage to see things through even when facing tremendous obstacles. I found that inspiring.

They were good, but I was not really able to plan my trip until my Rough Guide arrived. Something about the writing, the priorities and the advice of the authors fit me just right. I always want to travel with Rough Guides as my source.I am an adventurous traveler. Prefer the road less traveled, and like to find hidden treasures. I travel low budget, but I like that the Rough Guides offer different budget options, in case I'm ready for a more upscale experience along the way.Recommended!

Very comprehensive information as indicated in the volume of this book. However, a bit disorganized. Not as easy to find essential information, such as buses schedule, how to get to places......

I'm finding this helpful as I plan my trip to Morocco.

Looking to travel to Morocco in the next few months but didn't have any set itinerary. This book provided valuable information on what is truly necessary to know and see while there. There is nothing I've come across about Morocco that isn't in this book.

I've traveled to more countries than I can count. I like travel guides with lots of maps, lots of summarized information, and many sample itineraries or ways for me to easily create one as a starting point. To me, a travel guide should have layers of information with lots of side sections I can explore if I want to and with supporting details if I want to dig deeper into a given area. "If you have two days in city X, do this" is a great starting point for me to get focused and allow me to tailor an itinerary to my tastes.This is not that kind of book.I spent a rainy weekend going through this book and the associated Marrakesh guide (the multi-format eBooks direct from RoughGuides.com) only to find I had many bits of information and no plan. I bought the books because the copyright date was more current than Lonely Planet's, but I later bought the Lonely Planet guides to the same locations and find them to be far superior in terms of organization. I have not traveled to Morocco yet so I can't comment on the quality of information in either book.If you're making a guide book to Italy, you've got lots of competition, a big market, and a need to really make an effort to compete.Morocco? Not so much. Thankfully, there are options.Happy travels.

Didn't think that a book about mental health could be turned into a boring chore, but Varcalois' proved me wrong.The chapters are arranged via the nursing process, which means that the author is constantly trying to fill up space under each section after a topic has already been addressed. The result is a repetitive and boring writing style that doesn't have a good substance-to-page length ratio.Another issue is the unacceptable amount of errors in the pharmacological therapy sections. Thankfully our professor (a practicing psych NP) knew these errors ahead of time and addressed them in class, but this can be a serious issue for those taking the class with an adjunct or non-psych professor.

I love this textbook. It is very straight to the point. The book does come with the resources and you have access to the pre and post quiz questions which is very helpful because it quizzes you on the information to just learn. The chapters are that long which is one of the good thing about this book. I would recommend this book to any nursing student.

This book made learning Mental Health simple and enjoyable. The book is written in an excellent format.

I like the format of the book. Compared to other nursing books, this one was very easy to read and digest. But I didn't like how vague it was. The index would tell you that you could find info on something on page A, for example. Turn to page A, and nothing you're looking for is there. If you have other options, go for a more detailed/ specific book

This book has helped me immensely in Nursing Psych. Also, the book has extra online access resources that are amazing! Highly recommend this text, especially if you are looking for nclex style questions.

It's structured like any other typical Elsevier nursing textbook. Each topic is broken up into sections that correspond to the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, etc.). Psych nursing isn't my favorite specialty, so I personally find it boring to read. But overall, it's not a bad textbook.

Tons of hilighting and damage. It wasn’t missing pages though so I got what I needed.

I'm so upset that you were even required to buy this book for the semester. I used one other resource which got me an A both exams. I only open up this book twice and was just overwhelmed with the flooding of non relevant information.
