I just received this, and I have to say I purchased it because other reviews said that it has traditional prayers...IT DOES NOT! It does not have Angel of God, Hail Mary, or The Lords Prayer.It is a very cute book, and it has some nice daily prayers, but with the exception of the nighttime prayer (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John...), none are traditional, nor Catholic.I’m keeping it, primarily because I don’t have time to purchase another, but don’t be fooled by other reviews. If you’re looking for traditional prayers, this doesn’t have them.
This book is exactly what I was looking for! The illustations are super cute and the pages are thick enough for my little one to play around. The bible stories are short and easy for little ones to understand. Most pages include activity instructions that I can play with my baby. The book also has our father and haily mary prayers! I will definitly buy more for my friends babies in the future!
This is a colorful book with peek through windows. There are traditional Catholic prayers (Lord's Prayer, Hail Mary, Angel of God) as well as simple prayers for various times of the day that are aptly illustrated with scenes young children can relate to -- wake-up (The sun is up and I am too! I say good morning, God, to you.), meals, playing (Thanks for balls and thanks for bats, for ducks and trucks and funny hats. Thanks for slides and thanks for swings. Thank you, God, for all these things.), going to bed, etc. On each page there's also a question or suggested activity ("Pretend to wake up. Yawn and stretch your arms." "What do you like to eat for breakfast?" "What do you see outside your window?") The carrying handle and clasp that opens and closes are additional attractions for a toddler.
Since this was a Catholic prayer book, I was hoping it would be more Catholic specific. Other than the Hail Mary and Our Father, the book is just short, made-up prayers for a child's daily activities (playing, eating, etc.), which has nothing to do with Catholicism. The book is cute though and with the handle it's perfect to little ones to take to Mass.
My baby has enjoyed her first Bible since she was 5-6 months old, she still pulls it out to be read at 17 months. I like the Bible stories selected for the book and the simple words that convey them . . . .including Baby Moses, Jesus' nativity, and the storm at sea. My only suggestion for improvement would be to include the story of the Last Supper so that children learn about the Eucharist.
Love. Such a great way to introduce your child to religion. Having control of their own version of the Bible (as well as the cute pics and stories) makes it more desireable for them to keep with.
This Bible is so cute! Perfect to read to our little one. When he gets old enough to take it to church himself there is a handle on the binder that you can carry it. The stories are simplified and easy to read, and the pictures are very colorful. Definitely a great addition to any Catholic child's library.
Super cute! Bought as a baptismal gift. I like the handle and it does have Hail Mary and the Our Father prayers inside. Those were the prayers I was looking for.
